An experienced, enthusiastic teacher is needed for Terms 4 2008 and Terms 1 and 2 2009 inclusive, to fill a Maternity Leave Vacancy. Suitable applicants must be qualified and experienced in the teaching of Stage 6 Continuers and Beginners Japanese, as well as Stages 4 and 5 Languages. The teaching position also involves teaching in our Junior School, as well as the possibility of teaching Intensive English to International Students.

 

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to become part of a dynamic, highly successful Languages Faculty. Teachers within the faculty are responsible for teaching French (Years K-12); German K-12 and Japanese K-12; as well as Intensive English to International students. There is a strong sense of collegiality within the Faculty, with shared values including academic rigour, quality teaching and learning, teamwork, professional development and technological integration.

 

 

Hunter Valley Grammar School is committed to the best practice incorporation of ICT into its pedagogy. All staff are given the use of a laptop computer, and data projectors and SmartBoards are widely available.

 

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Working With Children Check.

 

 

This position will be remunerated at the AIS award rate subject to qualifications and experience.

 

 

The successful applicant will report to the Head of Languages. The precise job definition will be agreed in negotiation with the successful candidate but would be expected to include the following:

 

1. Teaching up to approximately 46 periods per fortnight from a maximum of 60.

2. Responsibility for contribution to the Faculty

3. Responsibility for a House Tutor group within the School’s Pastoral Care program

4. Involvement in the co-curricular program – by negotiation

5. Attendance at Assemblies, Staff meetings etc.

6. Involvement in school-based professional development

7. Involvement in other activities as needed.
