HVGS Parents & Friends

The aim of the Parents and Friends Association is to support and encourage community spirit within the school. The support of the Year Coordinators and Year Representatives and the involvement of other Parents and Carers is what make our aim and our Fundraising successful.

We hold meetings at least once a month, some after school and others during school hours. Everyone is very welcome at these meetings. We encourage Year Reps to attend these meetings and relay the needs of the Class teachers to us. The meetings also provide the opportunity for Parents and Carers to share their ideas and concerns with us.

There is also the opportunity to hear from the Principal as he usually attends our meetings and gives a report to the meeting about events and changes in the school. If he can’t attend for any reason then the Principal's report is presented by his representative.

As well as Fundraising for the extra needs that the Staff may require, we also organise Forums that help Parents and Friends stay up to date with the growing needs of our children. There is at least one forum per term and they are usually held in the evening. We also organise the Mother’s and Father’s Day Stalls, the Grandparents and Friends Morning Tea and other morning and afternoon teas as well as luncheons during the year, a Canteen at the Primary School Athletic Carnival as well as at the HRIS Cross Country. We provide bottles of water at the finish line of the HVGS Cross Country. We help in any area that the Teachers may require during the school terms.

Although it may seem that we are very busy we are also having fun. We enjoy many social outings over the year and this helps us develop the community spirit which is important for our school. Helping at school shows our children that we feel that the education they are receiving is important and it helps keeps us in touch with their everyday lives at school.
