The Middle School learner is at a unique growth stage; the majority today are involved in a time of tumult in family and community change. They are a group of individuals full of inquiry, yet eager to claim the security of the peer group.

These youths are neither Year 12's cut off at the knees, nor Year 6's who have suddenly outgrown their trousers.
The Middle School concept at Hunter Valley Grammar School recognises the importance of pastoral care which is central to our Educational Principles. Middle School ensures that progression from Year 6 Primary to Year 7 High School is as smooth as possible and a recognition that Year 7 is an important year of transition for our students.

Years 7 & 8
Years 7 and 8 follow a mandatory patter of study based on the NSW Board of Studies Stage 4 syllabi in each of the seven Key Learning Areas plus compulsory sport and an assembly each week.
