Senior School
Senior School incorporates Years 10 to 12. If the Middle School is about the transition to ‘adolescent learning' then a theme for the Senior School will be ‘adult learning' where students take on more personal responsibility and are more accountable for their choices and learning.
Our senior students are carefully supported to ensure that they make the most of the opportunities available to them and feel secure and comfortable in their learning environment. Additional to the support students receive as a normal part of their class work, there is a range of well-planned pastoral activities which foster a sense of belonging and help everyone to find their own unique place in the Senior School.
While our senior students work towards their Higher School Certificate, there is a range of programs in place to assist them achieve their highest possible academic performance to help secure their future. These include Mentor Programs to help students stay focused, small classes to allow for quality teaching and individual attention, and support programs to remind our students that balance is important in their life.
Verification of Hunter Valley Grammar School's academic achievements begins and ends with the outcomes for our students. The majority of our HSC candidates gain entry to the course and university of their choice. Our students consistently achieve high rankings in both state and national academic competitions and other testing.
