Sport

Hunter Valley Grammar School has established a fine reputation for sport. Our qualified staff and professional coaches provide many opportunities for skill and personal development which are in keeping with our balanced educational philosophy.

In its broadest sense, involvement in physical education encourages physical and mental fitness, resilience, promotes teamwork and the ability to set and achieve goals.

The School fields many teams in the traditional sports: rugby, soccer, cricket, netball, basketball, touch-football, swimming, cross-country and athletics. Many of these teams participate in local community competitions. In addition, the School offers opportunities for equestrian pursuits, Tae-kwon-do and Rowing (at our complex located nearby on the Hunter River).

Talented students in sport are also encouraged to seek representative selection.  This will be at HRIS (Hunter Region) level, AICES (Independent Co-Ed Schools) and CIS (Combined Independent Schools) with ultimate selection in NSW All-Schools teams. We are proud of the fact that we are over-represented in these levels for a school of our size.
