It’s easy to fall into the habit of wasting hours a day watching Netflix or YouTube videos when we are stuck at home. Staying active is super essential to aid wellbeing and keep the synapses firing.

Home-based circuit training is an excellent way for children to stay active and interested in exercise. Set up a few exercise ‘stations’ around the backyard or inside your home.

A station could be as simple as:

  • star-jumps
  • skipping rope
  • squats
  • lunges
  • running up and down stairs
  • dance station
  • high knees, or
  • sprints to the clothesline, for example.

Modify the length and number of reps to suit the ability of your children.

How to complete a circuit:

Each person participating, starts on a different station and spends one minute at that station. They then move to the next station. Repeat the circuit 3 or 4 times. Factor a rest break between reps and have plenty of cool H2O on hand.

Exercise is much more enjoyable with music, so pump up the tunes and get moving!

Note: please be mindful when adding any weight training into the circuit.
