HVGS takes a balanced view of education, seeking ways to make an impact in our local and global community.

Our ambitious Rural Scholarships Program offers rural students living in rural and regional NSW and further afield in wider Australia, the opportunity to finish their critical HSC years at our school, while staying in a homestay situation in the care of a local Hunter Valley family.

Our working farm located in South Maitland, is home to twenty-four beef show steer, four alpacas, six Dorper sheep, numerous cows and a goat! Students visit the farm regularly for agriculture lessons and the HVGS Cattle Team meet there each morning before school to prepare their steer for showing. There’s also an agriculture plot located on the school campus which includes three research plots, a commercial glasshouse and a poultry farm.

Student smilingForget boarding!

Boarding is not for everyone. Staying with a family allows students to feel fully supported while they focus on their HSC.  Our approved Homestay Families offer consistency, a home-away-from home and a welcoming place for students to just be themselves.
