Casual Grounds and Maintenance Worker
The Casual Grounds and Maintenance Worker ensures the upkeep and enhancement of school grounds and facilities. Responsibilities include gardening, landscaping, cleaning, routine maintenance, and repairs. The role also involves identifying and mitigating safety hazards, supporting event setups, and adhering to WHS protocols. Strong handy-person skills and efficient task management within the online maintenance system are required. Additional duties may be assigned by the Facilities, Property, and Asset Manager.
Work Pattern: This is a casual position with no firm advanced commitment to continuing and indefinite work and is not a casual roster‑based role. Instead, it is a true casual arrangement where you may be called upon to work only when required, such as to cover an incumbent's position or to support additional projects.
About You
Essential:
- Proficient in general handyman and carpentry skills.
- Previous experience in a similar or equivalent role is highly desirable
- Holder of a current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Exhibit a proactive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively in a physically demanding role.
- Demonstrated expertise in safe manual handling techniques.
- Excellent manual dexterity and balance for working on scaffolding, ladders, and similar structures.
- Strong commitment to maintaining safe work practices.
- A high level of integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Effective time management skills.
Desirable:
- Trade qualified in either plastering, concreting, or bricklaying
- Demonstrated experience in plumbing, welding, landscaping, tiling
- Working from heights ticket
- Light Rigid (LR) or Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
- Elevating Work Platform (EWP) ticket
