Head of Curriculum - Years 11-12

The Head of Curriculum Years 11-12 is a senior leadership role with the primary function to work with the Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Senior School and other Heads of Curriculum to lead the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and development of the HVGS learning program. 

The Head of Curriculum Years 11-12 has primary responsibility for the implementation of the Higher School Certificate (HSC), International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, and the IB Career-related Programme. The Head of Curriculum Years 11-12 will work closely with the Heads of Faculty and Heads of House to ensure learning in Years 11 and 12 is underpinned by HVGS’s definition of high-quality teaching and learning.

Work Pattern: This position is to be on campus from 8:00 am until at least 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, each school day in accordance with the published term dates. 

Staff meetings and other avenues for collaboration require attendance beyond 4:00pm. The teaching load for this position will be determined at the time of appointment.

About You

  • Relevant teaching qualification and current NESA accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum leadership and knowledge and a passion for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high achieving staff and students.
  • Experience in managing, training, coaching and mentoring staff in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Sensitivity to cultural nuances, a commitment to inclusion an active advocate for diversity.
  • Ability to integrate technology and a good understanding of how it can be leveraged to enhance both teaching and learning.
  • Awareness of current issues and trends in education and an ability to lead institutional thinking and high-quality professional learning.
  • Ability to enact strategic and systems thinking.
  • Demonstrated communication skills through all mediums including but not limited to written and spoken.
  • Demonstrates effective but sympathetic approaches to performance management and professional development.
  • Fosters an environment where creativity flourishes.
  • Responsibility for managing one’s own annual accreditation requirements including fee payment and maintenance of a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
