The Junior School extends a very warm welcome to new and current families entering Years K to 6 in 2024.

Here you will find all the information you need to get ready for school.

2024 Back to School Information

Junior School Uniform  –  Reminder

On the first day, students should wear their Summer Everyday Uniform. Here are few reminders for students about how to wear our uniform with pride:

  • Wear your broad-brimmed or Akubra hat when arriving and departing school.
  • Boys, wear your open-necked checkered shirt and grey socks. Girls, wear your Maitland Tartan dress and white socks.
  • Check that your plain, black leather school shoes are clean and well-fitting, as you grow.
  • Get a back-to-school haircut that meets HVGS expectations. Long hair must be tied back. HVGS students do not have mullets, dreadlocks, mohawks, rattails, or any styles with marked variations in length. Hair must be your natural colour.
  • Wear only navy blue ribbons or navy blue headbands to School.
  • (Keep your white teal blazer, white ribbon, white shirt and tartan tie for Formal Uniform occasions).

Junior School students wear their PE uniform twice per week – on Fridays and on the day of your PE lesson.

Mobile Phone & Smart Watches – Reminder

Mobile phones and Smart Watches are not to be used by students in the Junior School. If either device is brought to school (for travel purposes), it must be turned off and remain in the school bag during school hours. If an emergency arises, parents and students should contact each other via the Main School Reception.

Back to School Worries?

It has been a long holiday. If students are feeling worried about coming back to school, that’s quite OK. Even Heads of School feel nervous! Take a look at Ms O’Dwyer’s tips for beating the back-to-school blues.

If you have any queries about the first day of school, please call Mrs Teasel in the Office on 4931 0735.

2024 will be a great year of learning together. We are very excited to see you all!
