Junior Curriculum

A thinking-orientated curriculum complemented by classroom and specialist teachers maximises learning outcomes in the Junior School.

HVGS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Integrated with the Australian Curriculum and the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) syllabi, the PYP is a framework for teaching and learning in our Junior School.

In our School, the teacher’s role is not the ‘sage on the stage’ and students are not passive learners. They are placed squarely at the centre of their own learning. Through the PYP, students learn how to think for themselves through a genuine inquiry-led approach.

Senior Curriculum

We offer an exciting curriculum supported by a healthy balance of opportunities beyond the classroom that support a myriad of student interests.

The Years 7 and 8 curriculum engages students in new learning pathways and sets the groundwork for the years ahead.

In Years 9 and 10 students can choose electives that build on their strengths and their interests.

HSC electives for Years 11 and 12 allow students to grow and extend as they consider their tertiary pathways beyond Year 12. From 2021, Year 11 students have the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (CP).
